A Bodyguard in Baghdad (and Other Places)

Page 13

A Muslim kramat (burial-place) out in the desert:

A peaceful resting-place

An obviously unpopular guy - pic taken at an Iraqi base now under Coalition Forces control:

Guess who?

Inside one of Saddam's palaces - gotta love what they've done with the place:

A few dabs of paint to brighten it up

Chinese Silkworm (HY-2) missiles - we were originally told (in jest) that these are Iraqi kamikaze aircraft:

Launched either from ships or towed launchers, it has a half-ton warhead with a range of 90 kms or so

One of our guys really wanted to get back to the easy life in Baghdad, so he drew the boss's response on a wall:

An in-joke - don't worry if it doesn't make sense to you :-)

Denge water?!? Why not just call it Ebola water?:

Ok, lads - who's gonna try it first?

The local Tikrit pub (yeah, I wish!). Nice people there, but the place is a bit of a dump:

Me again

5 insurgents we caught who were behind the attack on a bus which killed over 20 Iraqi workers.:

It's sometimes REALLY tempting to cross over to the Dark Side...

The result of an annoying contact we had with insurgents at the Vortex in Baghdad - it should be a perfect killing-ground, but they cocked it up when we responded. Had to drive almost 5 miles with shredded tyres:

'2 wheels on my wagon...and I'm still rolling along...'

I was the vehicle-commander of this Explorer at the time and I had to shoot through the inside door-handle - everything else was armoured:

And the insurance company is still pissed at me...

The guys in the rear-vehicle had the most fun:

Don't worry - that'll buff right out
